Safari 6, tabs and Fitt's Law

Since the introduction of version 6 of Safari the tabs behave somewhat differently. A single tab will now extend across the entire width of the browser window apart from a small portion to the right which contains the " + " symbol to open a new tab. As successive tabs are added they occupy the largest space and keep the " + " target small. This breaks Fitt's law which is a shame. Particularly annoying, as the previous approach left the largest space to the right of the active tab and therefore the largest possible target to click and generate a new tab.
